Available from TapLogic, LLC, the Dry Grain Calculator illustrates the effect that varying grain and oilseed moisture levels have on crop weight. Users select a crop, articulate the crop’s net weight and enter the starting moisture content. From that point, the app computes the shrink weight and percentage that would result by drying grain to reach the targeted moisture content set by the app. The app includes a diverse range of crops, including corn, soybeans, sunflowers, oats and wheat. It has flexibility in enabling users to enter weights in bushels or pounds. The app enables users to save calculations to be referenced later. Dry Grain Calculator is easy to use. Navigating through the app is simple for users to understand. The app has predetermined target moisture levels for each crop, and users can’t edit those fixed levels. For scenarios where starting moisture content is lower than the targeted moisture content, the calculator doesn’t account for the effect that moisture management could have on grain weight in such instances. Dry Grain Calculator doesn’t provide a calculator methodology description, which would be useful for understanding the computed values and how they’re derived.
